A Dissection Of The Wave 2 Figure Design

Cloud Callout: II got a bad feeling about this! The "Good Doctor" never gets tired of cracking into new figures to see how they are made.  Firefly is next on the chopping block for Dr. Mindbender's experiment.  He will be showing us what many have never seen before.....INSIDE a super articulated Wave 2 figure!!!  He will be comparing the new design to the old Firefly body.  Mindbender and his assistant Shackles are ready to get down to business and show us what we all want to see!!!

Operation: Dissection

                               dis·sec·tion (d-skshn):  The act of separating tissue (or plastic), for anatomical study. 

 

FULL BODY:

*Almost 4 inches tall

*Body proportions are changed

* More sculpting detail

 

HEAD AND NECK:

*Smaller head mold

*"Ball and socket" joint for maximum pivot

*Currently no side tabs, head can spin 360 degrees

 

TORSO:

*Same overall construction

*Shorter torso height

*Larger shoulder cavity

*Same screw size holding torso together

 

UPPER ARM AND ELBOW:

*Full range of motion

*Shoulder redesigned to be larger

*Plastic arm rivets for color matching

 

HANDS:

*Both hands larger

*Trigger finger on hand

*Soft plastic hands, like the 2000 version

 

WAIST:

*Same basic design

* Reinforced crotch to reduce breakage

 

UPPER LEGS:

*Completely redesigned hip and legs

*Added swivel hip articulation

*Upper leg pivots normally in waist

 

LOWER LEGS:

*Same knee action yet different construction

*Added ankle articulation

*Taller shin section

*Lower legs can not be further dissected

 

OVERALL CONCLUSION:

*Articulation is the best ever made 

           *Vast improvement over the Wave 1 Storm Shadow seen here

            *Thin out bulky shoulder rivets and we have a perfect figure

*Overall a well designed and menacing looking figure
